Where We Are:
Savage Mill. It's neither savage, nor a mill. Discuss.
We occupy a space on the third floor of the Carding Building within Historic Savage Mill of Savage, Maryland. Savage Mill was a textile mill that produced canvas from 1822 until 1947. So yeah, our "Coffee Talk" discussion topic was slightly misleading! It now serves as an eclectic mix of retail shops, artist studios, business offices, and restaurants.

In 1985 Jeani Burns left the business forms firm she was with to establish the first woman-owned business forms distributorship on the East Coast. With only $5.00 to her name, she borrowed $1,000 from a family member who could not afford it. She contacted the President of Interform Corporation - a business forms manufacturer in Pittsburgh who she shared mutual respect for, and asked for terms. Mr. Scott, now retired, told her to drive up and meet with the ownership to discuss a working relationship.
In a blinding snow and ice storm, Jeani packed her one suit and piled into her old huffing and puffing Honda and hit the road. With eighteen wheel truckers flying by, she took her time, turning the four hour drive into an eight hour adventure. She finally checked into a Knights Inn close to the plant and went to be praying she would wake up for their meeting (the hotel had no wake up service and her frenzy, she forgot an alarm clock.
Despite the crazy night, Jeani met with the ownership of the plant in the morning and was approved for a full line of credit. The President teamed up with her to pull in printing/fulfillment contracts with firms like Signet Bank, Best Products, Ryland Mortgage International, Standard federal Savings Bank, Coca Cola Bottling Company and more.
When desktop publishing emerged, Jeani realized this market was goign to disappear and shepherded the firm to website development and marketing, advertising and publishing. Over the past 5 years BMCGroup has emerged as a leader within marketing firms, offering a full portfolio of marketing and agency products. We partner with international language technology firms to offer translations of websites and meeting materials- with fulfillment and real time PDF translated media or printed materials for international meetings.
BMC handles companies and clients of solo operations to corporations such as 3M.
